Nye began her journey with holistic and alternative therapies in 1996 when a flare up from an autoimmune disease left her exhausted, in pain and unable to walk without a cane. A combination of yoga, massage and Reiki brought her stress and pain relief, as well as a holistic way to manage her illness. Nye began training in Reiki and vibrational healing in 1999. In 2005, she became licensed in massage therapy and bodywork, and she began teaching yoga in 2009. Nye has specific training in restorative yoga, yin yoga and yoga for trauma. Nye has more than 19 years of experience as a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist, Reiki Master and Craniosacral Therapist. Kids Yoga Teacher
Cara is the owner of Stillpoint Healing Arts and has been a Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist since 2006. Cara has always had a passion for helping others and after discovering the healing benefits of massage therapy for herself, she pursued an education in therapeutic massage so she could help others to improve their quality of life.
As a child and into adulthood, Cara has dealt with anxiety and depression. To help cope Cara’s mother introduced her to guided meditation and creative visualization. She practiced these relaxation techniques regularly and in high school was introduced to yoga by a fellow classmate. Since then she has gradually deepened her understanding in not only yoga and meditation but other healing modalities as well. Cara was brought to kids yoga because of her son who struggles with anxiety from ADHD, & SPD. She hoped that the mindfulness exercises in yoga would help him better cope with his challenges and she was right! Originally her intention was just to learn kids yoga so that she could teach her son but after her training she realized that she truly has a passion teaching kids yoga. Cara is trained in preschool, kids and special needs yoga through Kids Twist Yoga.
Cara feels that her training is a calling and hopes to give the gift of yoga and mindfulness to as many children as she can. Imagine what the future can hold when we have a generation of children growing up who love themselves and each other unconditionally. The entire universe will benefit and the effects will last for generations to come if not significantly change the course of humanity altogether.
India was invited to her first power yoga class by her gym owner in 2005. Having been an athlete, her ego was completely crushed as she barely stumbled out of that first class, sweaty and ironically… breathless. The challenge to conquer this “yoga thing” turned into a love story of deep personal exploration, spiritual fulfillment and emotional growth and balance. Like any good love story, her practice had their ups and downs. It was not until nine years later in 2014, did she find the courage to take her practice to the next level, as she embarked on her 200 hour Teaching Training at Carrboro Yoga Company.
Her massage therapy and nursing background coupled with amazing mentors, and a few tough life lessons, have taught her to take from life what she needs with a grain of salt, as well as the unique ability and drive to help people by sharing love and spreading light. She hopes her dedication and passion touches her students and allows them to find growth and tap into that inner toolbox we all have to make this life what we all deserve it to be. Her vinyasa style flow will challenge you physically, fill your emotional cup, and leave you ready to conquer your day.
